I am talking about federations in general, EU is just another group, another way to unite which is stupid IMHO and useles for me and for most people I know.
Talking about "unions" in 80s... how about Comecon? (Council for Mutual Economic Assistance) I was actually bigger than EU btw.

- Czechoslovakia
..big unions wont last, not those that unite different states, different culture, different languages, different religions and different people, thats it.

Im sure youre referring to the European Part of the former Russian Fed.
I can tell you that 99% of the west europeans see Russia as a non european country, then as well. And tbh the Russian Fed was in a different time with a lot of different problems then the EU is now. People VOTE to be a part of the EU now, the Russian Fed was just put together by politics that noone could say no to.
There are always ppl whos glass is half empty, you seem to be one of them. Im sorry that you feel misjudged and off worse by these unions, its a part of history and no matter what you think theyll be there.
Oh and I am more aware of the whole situation then youll understand.

I corrected myself, I was referring to the former USSR, which was a big part of Europe:
Ukrajine, Belarus, Russia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldavia.. I am sorry to tell you that most important part of USSR were always European and still is in Russian federation.

No. European Economic Community was established in 1958 and it was a parent of EU.

People voted for communists in Czechoslovakia, people supported communists in Russia so you are just wrong.. communists were popular in Russia at the end of WW1.. people believed them to make their social situation better.
Anyway I was referring mainly to Comecon which was similiar to EU and it got fucked just as the whole USSR empire got.
