Too much hopping. One of the reasons I hated Counter Strike. You can tell the guys who come from CS or UR backgrounds on BF1942 cause they fucking hop their way across the battlefield.

ah, hopping (strafe jumping) is great. the hopping craze started with quake multiplayer i believe. damn, my computer sucks so i still actively play q2 multiplayer. heh.Comment

Also - Unreal (original, not this tourney shit) is a close 2nd to GL doom for 1st person action. Put it on "unreal" and you'll actually be challenged to finish this long ass game. 10 Skaarj on your ass and you're totally toast.
Also - Half-life first person also deserves honorable mention. Great story line.... my only complaint was when it came out 500mhz was like the top dog and it has plenty of bugs. Now tho, it aint no thang.

I can never time it right. Either too soon and not enough impact to take out the tank, too late and the from the jeep / tank collision kills me anyway. I usually only use it on the big desert maps.Originally posted by chodadog

Unreal 2003 was sent to the presses this weekend.. I played the latest demo and it's, well, unreal. You basically NEED geforce4 video to play it, and TONS of ram.. the game's detail and lighting effects are sick, the movement is silky, the options are countless. I was very impressed at how much effort went into the game.
The only thing I'm not so sure about is the bot AI.. I know in the other Unreal games they just got really accurate as the difficulty went up, but in team games (capture the flag and such) they were useless. We shall see..Xanadu024 (aim) or 286785389 (icq)

Download Doom Legacy and replay the classic Doom in full 3D. Besides for the sprite based enemies and objects, everything looks great, and you'll remember how great the game play was of this old game. It has auto-run, so you can run all the time. It was nuts how fast this game was. I really wish someone would redo a game like this. Serious Sam was the only game to approach this old-style arcade feel, but even they didn't get it done as good as Doom... give it a try, and see.

YEAH! I just bought SOF2 a while ago and I agree it's pretty damn good game! (Holy GHOUL engine, huh?) the realism in the death scenes is kinds creepy (Have you ever looked at the faces-if they still HAVE faces-of the dead guys?)
