More Homeless Hit the Heartland..

(NEWSCHANNEL 3) - There is a detailed look available on the homeless in West Michigan.

High prices, job losses and foreclosures are the leading causes for homelessness in Kalamazoo.

Single moms make up 66-percent of homeless families. At the Kalamazoo Gospel Mission 50 percent of those served are white, 45 percent are black and four percent are Hispanic.

The age group needing the most help are those between 46-65 years old.

Children 18 and younger are a close second.

Most had been homeless less than one year or never before.

They are still predicting 2010 before the country sees some relief. It's going to get worse before it gets better.

I wonder if we can expect some of GFY's McWebmasters to be spreading their cheeks for insertion before end of the crisis.

While I do not agree with the tone of the message, I honestly do concur with your statement. Many people fucking with no thought to the consequences of no protection, or 18 years of misery.

However.. I still feel bad for single mothers, and especially the kids who did not have the choice.

Sure, look the other way. Find one thing to justify it to yourself so you can sleep better at night. Hope that you never experience hardship. When you do, hope that others don't dismiss you so quickly and easily.

After college, old roommate worked for F.O.C. before moving on to Homeland Security. He worked there like 7-8 years. He would tell me some stories that would have you in tears.

Dealing with dead beat dads, their appearances in court, being dragged away, and mothers calling his office narcing on his locations and work place to have them arrested. Some of it was sad, but there was some priceless comedy listening to what drama can go on behind the scenes.

Agreed. That is why I highlighted those parts.

I was fucking stunned that MOST of the homeless are those age groups, and women and children. Plus, for the republicans and assholes, most 1st time, or under a year.

I have mixed emotions on the issue as I know both the abusers, and single mothers who've struggled all their life making it. But were one $500.00 car repair, or one medical emergency from being homeless.

A lot of this country lives on that edge. Which is why it reinforces my opinions that, during the campaign, most politicians do not have a fucking CLUE who the "average American" is out there.

WTF are you talking about? Where did I say they were lazy? Where did I knock on single mothers? Of course there is a lot more or less to each single mothers story.

With all your passion I hope you are down at a homeless shelter every weekend helping out. I help out at a local food bank once or twice a month helping them unload and pack food.

do you have any clue how many people in the US are one paycheck away from being homeless?

it still amazes me how people can be homeless in the United States..

this whole financial crisis is going to open a lot of eyes.
