i always found the nuclear umbrella argument to be flimsy. the enemy of today is not nuclear hungry soviets. russia/china, is not going to attack us, or try to rule us. the only existential threat are islamic terrorists. they are not deterred by nuclear umbrella dogma. not even close.
time to scrap the cold war toys & build the army to fight the enemy of today.

Actually it would put 10s of thousands of workers out of work in the US...currently all of the production plants in the US are in some stage of decommissioning and employ a ton of people...it would take many years to turn those plants around to production again and cause that whole industry of decommissioning to go out of business.
The construction industry would pick up a little slack but it takes a lot less workers to build a plant than to take one downComment
