One of the high schools I went to was all white 600 or so students. One day a black kid enrolled and he lasted a few months. The shit he went through was really fucked up. There were a lot of racists there, swatzticas etc but I never saw hooded people or their rituals etc
I think a lot of racist shit is casually passed down without the giver/receiver really being aware. My first memory of that kind was at Christmas time at my step Dads parents house when I was 6 or so. "Grandma" opened a tin of mixed nuts and she was teaching me what each kind was called. She held up the biggest nut in the tin and she said "this one is called a n*gger toe" they're actually called Brazil nuts

I would be willing to bet I had a much more diverse background than you do now before I even left grade school considering I attended 11 different grade schools in 5 different cities. Moving around so much as a child taught me a lot of things. Such as competition break dancing at age 9 while living in Memphis attending a predominately black school. All the way to introducing the rich white kids at Palm Beach High to Buttermilk Biscuits from my portable Sony cd player around 1987-88. To attending and graduating from a predominately black inner city high school by choice over a prominent military academy. My Senior year there my Critical Thinking teacher accused me of cheating her exam and although she was proved wrong she refused to correct my grade so the Principal fired her and corrected it himself giving me the highest grade in the class. And you know what? In all of my travels I've never met anyone like those people. I have however met a lot of really stupid people and I learned to read people VERY well., but I digress.. I can be hood, I can be country, I can be business man. I play many roles in real life... So the next time you think you know me you just keep on guessing. The KKK appeals to low and working class whites. They're now under threat of losing their jobs and incomes, so easy picking for the KKK and extreme Right.
As immigration, globalisation and automation continue there will be far more problems. It's inevitable. Come 2040, I'll be gone so remember this, there will have been a huge change in the way our countries are run, WW3 or anarchy.

The show will probably be tacky & awful like most of A&E's "reality" shows, but I'll probably watch just to see what it's like. Growing up in SWMO and just an hour or so away from the "national" HQ, there's still a lot of Klan activity here in the rural areas.Comment

I don't know of any liberal who thinks "we should all be one". That's the direct opposite of multiculturalism / being open to other cultures.
It's a very conservative concept, though, to expect others to behave as you do and pushing for legislation to support this. It's also known as authoritarianism.
Gays can't marry, hippies can't smoke weed, women can't get abortions, very long prison sentences in underfunded & staffed facilities, etc., for minor offenses. Being a conservative 101 is telling others to behave exactly as the conservative thinks they should via legislation.

I don't know anyone like that and that's not an attainable future, or a good future, it would be truly fucked up.
The reason America is so successful with multiculturalism is because you can have whole blocks of people of one persuasion, for those who need that. China town, Korea town, little Syria, little Iran, etc. There will always be militants & trouble makers that's part of being human and will never go away.
