    Was offline advertising effective?

I have a friend in radio and he shot me a rate list for something I am doing. I could not believe how expensive it was. There is no way to compare it to the net as in truly pushing sales the net is obviously way better for an internet site. But for an offline product do you think it works that well? They say we are too used to banner ads etc and just ignore the online stuff but don't we also do that on offline stuff? How is a newspaper ad superior to a banner ad on a website? Just got me thinking.

How expensive was it? Most 30 second tv ads on your local stations cost $30 to $150
