I wouldnt do the anonymous message. Honestly, because it would probably destroy her because she wouldn't know who sent it.
Grow some balls and tell her that her ass stinks. Ive had to do it before, including once was a friend in high school. its not easy to bring up sensitive subjects to people but she will only be embarrassed for a few hours or day or so then get over it.
Honestly, you can just say something like "did you step in dog poop or something?" and when she says "No, why?" then you can say "oh... cause it smells like you did, sorry"
THEN the key is to change the subject quick and tell her something, anything, random fact about work. Her subconscious will let the message set in that she has a funk, but most likely when you are giving her another stimuli right after, she wont freak out or may say something like "seriously? do i?"
If anything, she will most likely see you as a friend for doing so.
