    Do new TLDs boost/kill rankings?

I know officially google says they don't give any weight to TLDs - that they shouldn't hurt or help. But I dunno...

Wondering if anyone has firsthand experience with any of the newer TLDs like .XXX, .Sex, .Porno, Etc.

I got a few .Gallery domains - just because they paired well with certain keywords. Then, a couple .XYZ 's just cause they were so cheap I couldn't say no (a bit of a domain hoarder...if only I had web development skills and an extra 24 hours every day...sigh).

Wondering what everyone thinks about .XYZ's ? Does it shout spam? Can it work?

    Opinions/firsthand experience all appreciated !

Google said that TLDs do not impact ranking.
In my experience, we can still rank a site with .xyz extension without issue!

Own several .xyz or .xx domains and you can rank any domain with any extension, just that your typein traffic may be lost because people may type automatically the ".com" extension instead of your entire domain.

Thanks all! If I get time in the next few months, I want to do an experiment. I know there's that 'famous' example with Coffee.Club - where having the .club boosted them to first page of Google after about a month.

I'd link to the article on it - but don't have enough posts yet to include links. So, if you want to see google "Coffee . Club TLD" and it should be the first article on Hover Dot Com.

But good to know it most likely won't hurt - aside from like jerkules mentioned - people still automatically type in the dot com version.

I agree with Denny though - still prefer the original TLD's when available.

                Hi

My understanding is google sandbox new sites/domains for 1 year before they get the rank they deserve.

You will find they index it quickly, maybe even put you on page 1 for a while, but then the sandbox kicks in and you drop until such a time as they are sure you are not just creating rubbish for the sake of it...

                Hope it makes sense!
