I have a Canon GL1 and it's been a great camcorder over the years. Not the best in low level lighting, but tolerable.
What are webmaster's and content providers using for camcorders these days? I have heard that some of the newer HD camcorders and about 3 years behind their time when it comes to the amount of lighting they require to produce a nice vibrant video. Is this true?

I have an HD cam that will shoot SD, so I'm covered. -bmb

imo in porn the hotness of the action is more important than what its shot with.

Future proof yourself now and go HD. Get a AVCHD or HDV camera, and then you're ready for streaming to HDTVs or whatever the future holds. The blu-ray players (including the PS3) will play AVCHD burned on regular DVDs. The image quality on a consumer HD camera will blow away your Canon DV. My Sony VX2100 with my Century Optics wide angle lens was my baby. Now I only use it to hide something on the model like thebossxxx said.

I owned and used the GL1 as a production tool for many years... I liked it alot... but noticed that the colors were not nearly as good as the GL2.
The GL1 does/will perform good if you have the scene well lit.

As for HD vs SD.... My opinion is this... for most people on a computer...even with a 24" screen.... SD with just a little compression looks fine...
You really need HD if you plan to take your content off the web or onto a screen bigger than 24"

What do you guys think?

So, you are saying you shoot almost completely in SD? haha, sorry! someone had to say it.... but I agree, how clearly do you need to be able to see ass pimples?
