Let me guess, you are either an Anti-Fidel Cuban-American living in Miami or just an American who has no idea what he is talking about, because you are talking out of your ass now.
Yeah they do. But if you go, DONT take any photos.
Porn is NOT TOLERATED there.
I've shot there quite a bit. Though I admit, I don't want to get caught shooting there. I'm not sure which prison I would like to be in the least, a Thai one or a Cuban one.
lol, i hope not. its a nice destination for canadians
Yea, but they just go to the tourist resorts. I don't fuck with those places, I dig the old, real Havana. That city as so much charm, I feel in love with it the first time I went there. The entire island is charming though, so are the people.
The only shitty Cubans I have ever come across are the anti-Castro Cubans from the USA.
The USA does not allow their citizens, you know the "free" people, to spend money in Cuba. This of course means you can not travel there because it's impossible to not spend money there.
To do so you can be charged with "Trading With The Enemy" and pay a $7000 fine I think it is or do jail time. It's all BS. But we used to go through Mexico and the Cubans would not stamp your passport. They know the drill and welcome us. I have not been in a few years though.
i go to cuba, smoke cigars and grow a beard, juicy d. castrooooooooooooo
I can set you up in the same house that Jerry Springer and Arnold Schwarzenegger rents out when they go there. You can sit on the porch, surrounded by BEAUTIFUL young girls and smoke Cohibas while drinking the best Mojitos you have ever had.
The United Fruit Company was frequently accused of bribing government officials in exchange for preferential treatment, exploiting its workers, contributing little by way of taxes to the countries in which it operated, and working ruthlessly to consolidate monopolies. It uses what are referred to as "Economic Hitmen" making sure the country accept huge US sponsored loans, only ending up having to loose both the resources of the country AND pay interest of the loans
All was done to try and remove the socialist leaders on Cuba, and put someone less Communist friendly in power. But it only made them stronger.
Therefor my previous statement "They have enslaved that little nations for decades now"

And I suppose American companies are the only ones to do that...That's right

what the FUCK do that have to do with anything?
- I Said the US have enslaved the nation
- You replied Fidel did it
- I explained to you, why that is a lie, and how they keep doing it again and again... Iraq, Venezuela, Ecuador.. list goes on and on
And now you try and brush it off as "everyone else does it"? Because of US politics, you have held a country back since the 60's ... thats 50 YEARS !
Quote from Obama: "Allowing subsidized and unfairly traded products to flood our markets is not free trade and it's not fair. We cannot let foreign regulatory policies exclude American products. We cannot let enforcement of existing trade agreements take a backseat to the negotiation of new ones."

The USA crippled Cuba. Not Fidel.
I lived in Cuba for over 5 years on and off base... Castro is to blame not us, you have no idea what you're talking about
Cuba is a really cool place to go to. My mom is Cuban and I go every year. It's kick-a*s!
By the way, the fault is both, Fidel's and the US govt. There's no absolute guilty in this situation.
But like I was discussing with my husband the other day: Cuba has a boatload of problems, but everybody eats, everybody has free top notch health care and free exceptional education.
You do lack freedom and in general it's pretty sucky to live there, but there are no children working, no poor people going thru the trash looking for something to eat, and no people dying for lack of health care.

Seriosly? I never heard of it. Is it only Cuba?
I know the genereal issues about traveling with lot of cash, but you can't even use creditcards?
I know I am and anyone who knows anything about what is going on in the world and Cuba, knows this to be true as well.
But I will allow you to humor us, what is it exactly that Castro did to cripple Cuba?

The US Military base?
I will ask the same of you, what exactly did he do to cripple Cuba? If by that you mean he didn't play ball with the USA and they punished an entire nation for it, I can hardly call that his fault.
I'm not saying he is not bad for other things he has done, but what act did he do to cause all of this?

Indeed.

What Castro did was not get in bed with the USA and the country was punished for it. I've actually studied the Cuban Revolution and Fidel Castro in great detail and I have yet to find anything from him that caused the trade embargo that has held the island down for so long. The USA even bullied the rest of the world to not trade with Cuba as well for all these years, just recently other countries grew balls and started to trade with Cuba.
If you (or the other guys who think Castro is to blame for it all) have information that is not available to the public that says otherwise, I'd love to see it. I'm NOT pr-Castro by any means, but I don't fault him for the extreme poverty there and lack of trade with the country.

Agreed.

Exactly. And that can not even be said for "the greatest country on earth."

You are dead right Jim. But I still enjoy the charm of the place. At least until the Americans run in and strip it of all that makes it charming.
You can still get there by flying from Canada, just don't let them stamp your passport.
WMA Cuba 09?
Canada shares their flight manifest with the US government. Most of the people who get caught go through Canada. Not that you WILL get caught because it's just too much to trac down everyone, but if you happen to be on one of the flights they look at... you are TRADING WITH THE ENEMY!
Mexico used to be the safest way but since Bush, he has bullied them into sharing their flight manifest too. That's why I stopped going.

Has this always been the case or just post 911? It's been a while
Theers no more money in porn - I got the last of it.
i think cuba is the only place i could watch tv, no commercials!!!
You would love the morning cartoons for kids. American tanks gunning down brave Cuban children on their way to school and tossing their bodies off cliffs into the sea.

what the difference bwteen that and the shit they show on american tv?
I dont watch television so i was only joking.
Some cheered on the "Shock and Awe" I still see it as killing kids and women.

Many photographers shoot in Cuba. Their was an incident back in 2002 and locals got scared as the government arested several people and it was broadcasted through the whole nation.

If you ever go back, go to Oriente and visit Santiago or Holquin. Havana is to modern compared to the rest of the country.

Great places. I've spent a lot of time down there, all over the island, not just Havana. Though Havana is the place I would not mind getting an apartment if I could. I'm really into Salsa and Afro-Cuban music and that is pretty much ground zero for that.
Trinidad is actually my favorite, but it's WAY to small and off the grid for me to want to spend any serious time there.
