Photographers! What camera/lens can take this kind of photo? [PIC]

I know next to nothing about photography. My question is what kind of camera and with what lens we can take a shot of this kind and other long distance natural scenes?

    Thanks in advance.

I have shot similar moon images with a 300mm/2.8 + 1.7TC on a D300 + tripod, but the hill/tree is definitely pasted in Photoshop.

If you have to ask what kind of camera took that pic you could never take that pic with any kind of camera.

I think the question you are asking is: "How do I take this type of a picture of the moon?"

Close 1 eye = reduce perspective to 1 dimensional view...

Do a "Thumbs Up" in front of you.

Move your thumb closer or farther away to see how diferent it looks to your whole range of vision.

Now go out an buy a $1500-$5000 Digital SLR or Film (LOL) SLR. (SLR = Single Lens Reflex)

Buy or rent a 500MM or more telephoto lens or get a telescope with a bayonet camera mount.

Go find a hill with a tree on top of it and stand below it with the moon in the background.

Do a spot light meter reading to the moon. Set the camera setting to Manual and use those settings for the F-stop and shutter speed.

Take a picture and frame it on your wall so your friends think you are an artist and not a peeping tom and put it next to your telescope pointed out the window.

Or photoshop 2 images sandwiched together.

Or buy a house on top of a hill overlooking the city and spend alot of time doing trial and error shoots of whatever and have fun with it. I do...

you'd need more than a 200mm lens to get that close up..
i took this one in 2006 of the lunar eclipse using a 80-200 nikon lens on a tripod and a remote trigger, perhaps with a 500mm you could get a decent size image of the moon.

It wasn't about tree, I was mainly asking about taking this clear pic of moon.

That's relatively easy then, long (telephoto) lens and a decent sensor.

I took shots of the moon with a 200mm lens and a 16 megapixel camera and the actual area the moon covers is only about 150 pixels tall. You need a LONG lens to fill the frame.

(I have a 350D I bought as a secondary body... can barely hold it comfortably in my hand, let alone balance it with a large lens on it. )

I would want to go for a camera that is full frame tho rather than the 400D
yeah, for sure. i didnt find anything better on google and just wanted to show a general example. there are surely better cams and lenses for this, but it's a start.
