But to answer Paul's question.
People who have a screen over 50 inches and sit closer then 10 ft to their television.
In HD under 10 ft away you can see the individual pixels. In 4K you can't see the individual pixels
making the image look more realistic.
If you sit over 10 ft away from a 4K TV you won't see the difference between 4K.
Its a simple answer but technically correct.

The problem with easy to use technology is it's easy to use.
The problem with the skills Jay-Rock and some have is it's impossible for most to use.
Watched Planet Earth 2 in whatever it is. Fucking awesome. Did I think Planet 1 was the same? Yes.
In fact seeing David Attenborough being playfully knocked over by Mountain Gorillas was equally awesome.
My entire point is 4K doesn't make a bad program good. And some seem to rely on special effects too much and creative writing, producing, directing too little.
