    Who cares if it's 4K if it's shit?

    The obsession with technology is getting out of control.

    I like watching TV and movies, the problem is finding something decent to watch. What today compares in quality to series like Breaking Bad, The Wire, The Shield, Sopranos, etc.

                  And the same will apply to 4K in 10 years - when I look at our early HD videos today, they look blurry compared to what cameras do now. And SD is almost unwatchable on a big screen.

While none of them in your opinion maybe as good as the ones you listed (personally I like them all more than yours except Breaking Bad) Networks are spending more money and time on developing a long running series in hopes to find the next audience as devoted as the Lost or Game of Thrones followers

                                  The artists behind the shows all work together usually to engage the viewer, and sandwich the story, acting and technology to do this. So try to rip open that sandwich and look at the individual components. Is it a boring story? Bad acting? Or a subject matter you're not interested in?

                                  If the technology is really good, you won't notice it. But if its bad, you will. A great story shot on VHS would suck no matter what because the low quality picture and sound would be a distraction nowadays.

                                  4K is beautiful, and not just for pixel resolution. 4K and HDR can really let good cinematographers shine and add alot of dramatic oomph to a scene. Learn to love the technology.

                                                                      Considering now every tv even the cheapest one have support for HD content, i'l guess in future 4k will be also supported on every tv. Tho not much use of it as none of TV stations emits in HD anyway.

                                                                                              Some good ones there. But not Game of Thrones or Walking Dead. They're too predictable and illogical. Simple point, to oppress the loser group the winners have to execute the leaders. Rick is still alive. Walking into that trap was also comical. Mr. Robot is just your normal 18 years old's series.

                                                                                                                  I love development and progress but not at the expense of quality. How many 3D films were true greats? Now compare that to 2D films.

                                                                                                                  Walking Dead was fantastic, up to series 5. Then like too many series well past their best, they struggled for good logical story lines. Tudors is another series that could have been far better. Tudor times were more than just Henry the 8th's sex life. They missed out on the greatest Tudor and why those rulers had to do what they did.

I adapted to the changing markets till in the end, we were shooting primarily for magazines around the world, with the Internet being a backup sale to add to the profits.

                                                                                                                      Today I wouldn't even bother to shoot for sale. I would be shooting content to entertain people and make money off of ads and sites like Youtube. I would if I needed to work, but after a successful career, I don't need to or want to.

                                                                                                                      Even in SD, I would aim at the content being entertaining.

                                                                                                                              In HD under 10 ft away you can see the individual pixels. In 4K you can't see the individual pixels
                                                                                                                              making the image look more realistic.

                                                                                                                              If you sit over 10 ft away from a 4K TV you won't see the difference between 4K.

                                                                                                                              Its a simple answer but technically correct.

                                                                                                                                              Taking Paul's analogy a step further I've tried finding new programs on Hulu and Netflix like the shows he mentioned.

                                                                                                                                              Trouble is, most are shit. The writing is dreadful and boring and the dialogs (exposition) are monotonic, meaning all have 1 voice...barely. A lot of content is that way as well today.

                                                                                                                                              It's hard to sell because it is boring to watch or just like the last 5,000 scenes pumped out by the same hacks.

                                                                                                                                              Grow tech, grow the art of shooting porn...please.
