Why do the French hate Americans and Vice Verse?

    Why do the French hate Americans and Vice Verse?

    I never got caught up on the history of why the French and Americans hate each other so much. I was at the voting poll this weekend and heard a group of guys behind me bashing the French. I know that we've stood side-by-side through two World Wars and fought together so why such a hatred now?

    The French helped us win the Revolutionary War. We helped the French beat the Germans, twice. So why all the hatred?

    I know there are some French and French Canadians here along with Americans so can any of you tell me what sparked this hatred? It really escapes me but then again, I'm not nailed to any news network 24-7 so I may have missed something.

      Americans hate the French? I think it's just the image that they are weak. Hate wise, I think it's more worldwide due to the way the French and Americans act. Like if you screw up trying to talk French they turn into douches about it. And most Americans are just assholes that think they rule the world.

                                  Also as for them helping us in the revolutionary war it was after we won the french American war so not sure if they think they still owe us for that one.

                                  On a side note I have a French WW2 rifle for sale never fired and only dropped once.

                                          My Grandfather moved from France to the US in 1959. All my french relatives love it here and want to stay when they come to visit.

                                          I live a few miles from the French Quarter. If Napoleon wasn't such a douche we still might belong to France down here. But he was only interested in this place (port of NO) because it was right next to Haiti which he was trying to conquer. However, the mosquitos on the island quickly spread disease to the frenchies who were not immune and they all died and they lost. And so Napoleon eventually went ahead and the Louisiana Purchase was made.

                                          If you don't know the history of that, you are missing a major part of how the USA came to be what it is today.

                                          So you can thank shorty. And hate Napoleon all you want, he kicked a lot of ass.

                                                                          When I went there, the french were nothing but nice to me. I had spoke to a few and they mentioned they dont like the politics of the US. Not US citizens as a whole.

                                                                                                  After France told the US they were wrong on the WMDs (wich they were), tourism from americans has gone down 80 % in france.

They were with us in Vietnam and the first iraq war. And if it wasnt for the Russians we would of lost the ww2, 50 million Russians died fighting in that war.

Anyways yes we helped then out in WWI and WWII and those generations are thankful. Where it got fucked up is they were in Viet Nam for 10 year then bailed. They told us "Don't go in there you can't win" We said "Fuck off Frechy all you know how to do is lose wars. Not the same culture. they do however share the same language, with huge difference in accent ( like USA and UK)... Just saying...

                                                                                                                                  I'm not a hater either way. I think France and USA share something in common: they stand up for what they think is right while a lot of other countries just prefer keeping low profile not to piss off Amricans or Europeans. This is exactly why these 2 nations have a love/hate relationship throughout the history.

However it's been part of the whole Hardcore Right Wing hate machine to continuously bash the French and anything they equate to Socialism. So it trickles down to the sheep aka the typical liberal hating Hardcore Right Wingers.


                                                                                                                                                          Thinking that means Americans as a whole or even the majorty is wrong IMO. It's a select group, they same types that would likely be KKK members 50 years ago.
