I have already been laughed at for keeping supplies for assorted emergencies and such. Do not see it happening due to the financial mess. Mine is more for a natural disaster or what not and not some doomsday social collapse situation. Either way I would be set for several months minimum and I have the skills and know how to self sustain and preserve with my property. In the event of a major depression or something, honestly a few months supplies of food will only ease things. It would last much longer I think, if it did happen.
Plus most better be damn ready for those who will try to take it from you.

If shit really does hit the fan you have to be smart. Have your 3 months of food BUT go to the bread lines and get what daddy government will give you. That will make your supplies last 1/2 year to a year.

We've been laughed at for this too. We have enough can goods and other such necessities to last my family for several months. The kids friends will come into our house and think we have SOOOO much food and yet we preach not to waste it.
You just never ever know what the hell is going to happen, and we've BEEN homeless before, we know the importance of always having enough things on hand to aide us in such instances. You don't know what tomorrow holds until it gets here. Natural disasters, loss of a job, I could go on and on and on...... always better to be safe than sorry. I realized this when my family was living in a van and we had no idea how the hell THAT happened.

When I lived in another area after getting our house snowed in for awhile and then finding out our roads and area was very snowed in for a few weeks longer. I have long learned to be ready for anything.
its not going to break down. I was in the car business during the last recessionin the late 80's.A dealership was closing one a week. We came back. You have to remember even if unemployment went to 10 percent it sucks but that still means 90 percent of the country is still working. For my wedding anniversary we went to fogo de choa it was packed on a Thursday night. Things suck but the system wont fail, I know its hard to believe that with the media talking doom and gloom 24/7
People like him is the reality. Like it or not from day one the stronger will and do take it from the weaker. Society has changed that for many with the exception of criminals however this whole idea and thread literally speaks about when society itself breaks down. That happens and yes people like him and many others will take stuff from others when allowed or possible.

We've been there too, not much here in Ky, but we've had the random issue like that. The kids didn't think we were so damn crazy when we were snowed in for several days and had all the food they wanted here. lol
I tell you what, my kids are about as spoiled as they come, but they know what it's like to struggle, so they are pretty good at their own survival skills, and I couldn't be more thankful for this. MOST kids today would flip if they didn't have everything, cell phones and other things, but mine know how to deal with these stresses. It was tough on us all when we were homeless, but after all was said and done, I was almost thankful for it..... it taught them how to survive and what it's like not to have all the luxuries they have now.
People like him are the reason I work out daily and own handguns.
(ok... well the working out is mostly for pussy)
Thanks for the quote correction.
Oh, also make sure someone like him does not also take your gun. To many own guns and think they would use them, yet never could really pull the trigger on another.

Putting a bullet in a person can't be fun, but it is possible to scare someone without killing them.
Now that my mind is going, I'm thinking about how useful night vision would be in a "system breakdown" scenario...

Except for the fact that you don't own guns to scare someone - you own guns to KILL someone. You either pull out the gun and blow someone away, or you don't pull out the gun. Period.
