Trump doesn't need to solidify his base. He could throw shit at them and they will still vote for him. He has to convince the 8-13% of undecided voters to vote for him. the truth is...partisans reflect their thinking on independents, from both sides, just like i see independents as breaking heavily to trump, in the places it will count, the rust belt. CNNs whoppers dont sell outside philly or detroit.
the rural vote vs the city vote...which will be more energized? will trumps populism & immigration turnout more country folk in swing states than hilary can turnout the minority votes in detroit & philly...

There is a very good chance the remaining undecides just end up not voting at all. If that is the case then turnout will be even more important than it normally is.
