    Affiliates, what do you want?

    I've been in the middle of a big renovation, moving to Nats4, getting new tours from Zuzana, putting all the content into ElevatedX etc and so on and we're almost there! Lately I've getting into the nuts and bolts of the Nats ad tools system and I'm really enjoying myself, strangely enough.

    While I've been doing this work I've suddenly realized that it's not 2002 anymore. What do affiliates find most useful these days in terms of promoting traditional paysites? Hosted html5 galleries? Are photo galleries even useful anymore? Hi res photo zips? Hosted tube clips? Page peels? Hosted trailers, RSS feeds? What works for you guys?

      Speaking for myself, I like free hosted photo galleries with 16 to 20 sample pics and a good description. I also like free hosted video galleries, mp4 HD minimum 720x405 with a good description. Embedded videos are nice, especially if they come with image link and video link for HTML5 option. Oh yeah and a description of the action. Banners at a minimum, 468x60, 300x250, 728x90 static or animated. Feeds would be sweet if they worked as well. Minimum payout set at $50 ACH or Paypal. Pretty basic stuff for me. Thanks in advance. And don't underestimate the value of photo galleries, you can always mix them with a video and cover your bases.

              Thank you, that's helpful. I wasn't sure whether tgp's and mgp's were even a thing anymore, and I did put up a ton of image zips today with more to come.

              I also have a metric fuckton of hosted galleries, but they're pretty old and they're straight html. I'm thinking they really need to be fully responsive to be useful anymore so I'm gonna have to get a bunch of new ones made.

              A good thing about Nats that I think a lot of affiliates don't know about is that ALL content has an RSS feed, you just have to hit the little icon in the upper right corner. I need to do some testing with them to make sure they're maximized though.

                          Why do sponsors still pretend to give a fuck? I have never once seen one of these threads end with anything being offered that isn't catered to the lowest common denominator and handled terribly at that.

                          But for shits and giggles.

                          1) Wordpress brought RSS and such to the masses in 2003. Why in the holy fuck have zero sponsors figured out how to capitalize on RSS fees that actually work? It is not hard to not fuck this up but even in the blogging boom not one single sponsor on earth got it right. It's a simple ass concept that tons of people exploited for years but the guys with all the money and content on hand haven't figured it out 13 years later.

                          2) Quicker payouts. If you pay me $100 as soon as I make $100 I can flip that into more sales for YOU. How many ad buying experts are you missing because you are too stupid / lame / stuck in your ways to pay faster than once every 2-4 weeks or every $xxx?

                          3) Actual amateur sites with actual amateur content that can be used to promote those sites. There are more girls posting their buttholes on reddit for free than there are porn stars but sponsors still haven't figured out that it's the content users want most. Webcam sites pop up and take millions and millions out of this industry and even they don't get it right. Oh look, here is a giant site with free chatrooms where you can see it all but don't you dare take a screenshot and put it on your site, only feeds or the models will bitch about their content being "stolen". Paysite owners that attempt amateur content are even more pathetic, haven't seen a single one that had content that looked authentic / non professional. And no, that trenchcoat wearing idiot with 500 shitty sites does not count.

                          4) Who cares. Nobody listens to shit anyhow.

                                          For me I like the following:

                                          1. Some picture content. Doesn't need to be much, just a few good pics per update that I can resize/chop etc to fit my blog.

                                          2. Some form of downloadable video. Again, doesn't need to be long and I can take it from a FHG if needed. I just need to be able to clip a small section of it to make some GIFs out of it.

                                          3. Not necessary, but nice: embeddable videos that are mobile friendly. A lot of sponsors have embeddable videos, but they are either in Flash so they don't work on most phones/mobile devices, or they aren't dynamic so they can't auto resize to fit on phones, so if the embeds work on mobile, that is great.

                                          4. Mobile friendly tour/site. More than half my traffic these days is mobile so if the site can't convert that, it's not going to work for me.

                                          That's about it.

                                                                  Waaaay too much fraud to do this, unfortunately. Might be possible to offer something like this to long term affiliates as a loyalty bonus though. Something to think about.

                                                                          One thing I wish more program owners would consider is adding descriptions to every piece of promo. I know it is hard to do, but, believe me, surfers like a good description to go with the gallery or video. It adds an extra dimension to the presentation. A promotion site with descriptions will always do better than one without. Most surfers still like to read something.

                                                                                                                  Not looking for work but I'm sure there are some RSS pros around here. I'm speaking more in general in that sponsors should by now have a platform to add their content where affiliates can pull it out mixed up with other content that makes it unique. We were doing this in mainstream way back in 2004 or 2005 when pinging still got you in blog searches the same day.

                                                                                                                  No doubt but it is crippling. This is more the fault of processors than program owners but it is ridiculous to wait a month for money. I know people here that re-invest every cent on ad buys as they get it. If they spend $1000 today and get paid $1500 in a month they spend that $1500 as soon as they get it. If they spent $1000 in a day and only made $1050 return but got paid tomorrow they could reinvest the $1050 and run it up all month long.

It's a general rant towards asshole cam sponsors that won't even let you use the images from FREE cam shows to promote their site.

                                                                                                                              I love FHGs! I make the majority of my sales from linking to FHGs or using the images to create my own galleries to link to the sponsor's tour.
