I actually bought that one 2 weeks ago and it didn't open 5" so its en-route back to Amazon.

then go with the home made alternative, which is easy and cheap.

Use any regular F-clamp, open it just wider than you need it to be, then attach a strong rubber band, or surgical tubing across the mouth of the jaws. Push the F-clamp all the way on so the band/tubing is tight, then tighten the clamp.

it's a home made version of the "bandy" clamps that Rockler sells, which only go up to 3"

Thats the same one suggested above. Home depot doesn't have. Everything seems to be 2.5" opening.

don't go to a commercial hardware store. get on the phone and call some local hardware stores. one on ebay free shipping over $35 need it faster get on the phone. good luck!
