I remember my buddy told me, he recently went to India. It is super poor but, he said, all people were very tidy - shirts and pants style.
But surely - being middle class or rich and dressing bummy is "cool", right?

People here, ignorant fucks that they are, think that if you're not nice and tidy, wearing nice clothes, you must be really poor. Ain't no flipflops, shorts, tshirts being taken seriously maybe until recently (big influx of gringos).
You'd have to be one of the biggest, richest gangsters in the world to get away with wearing sweaters that look like they came out of Paul Markham's closet in the 80s.

Bosnia and the Balkans in general are like this too. This isn't surprising at all, as it's usually the poorer, developing nations that tend to be more about 'proving' something with their image. It's about saving face essentially - so what if you can't afford to eat as long as you have nice, clean pressed fashionable clothes so you at least
don't look poor. The rich from the developing nations tend to set this trend for the lower classes.
Wheras in western developed countries like US and Canada, who gives a fuck? A rich person knows he is rich and has nothing to prove, his plastic does the talking for him in all the right places.
