how many of you are planning to switch to the "thumbs layout" like the one on mad thumbs, teeniefiles, etc.. and how many of plan to stick to the usual "text links layout" like thehun, smashing thumbs, etc...?

I got a little of this, and a little of that.
Text layouts are easier to update - although if I had a script that allowed submitters to upload an optimized sample thumbs, I guess the thumb previews would be tits to do. -

Must be rough on bandwith and speed though, all those images to display plus whatever other banners and images you already have on the page. But must be worth it as I'm seeing lots of sites go from textlinks to thumbnails and not go back.Comment

I don't run TGPs, but think about the bandwidth bill of serving up a few hundred thumbs at 5k each.
Assume 200 thumbs on main page X 5 kb each = 1,000 kb per unique visitor
Assume just 100,000 unique visitors/day X 1,000 kb = about 100 gb/day
and thats just for the thumbs, add on all the html, banners, etc...Surrender all your independent thinking and Click Here for re-programming.Comment

previews thumbs will make the tgps to hit the bottom line. Most of the mgps in the past had preview thumbs.Last summer the traffic was so bad that everybody was crying they couldn't even afford the hosting. Many of the sites switched format again as an attempt to bring things back to normal. Most if not all the mpgs now tha have tons of thumbs (mostly for trading) are free hosted by adultbouncer.Comment

A little off-topic....
Any of you using MPAs instead of banner ads? I've been trying it on my TGP, and it seems to convert a little better.
"MPA" = "Middle Page Ad".
So, traffic flow is this:
splash> MPA > Gallery Listing > (Click on gallery link) > MPA > Gallery (Opens in new window)
Theory is that you force the surfer to view the ad. Especially surfers who have tuned banner ads out. Also, it allows you to clean up your list, and not clutter it w/ a bunch of ads.
Mine is setup to rotate the second MPA. Also, with this method, your surfer sees 3 FPAs, by the time they get to a gallery, and get back to the listing.
Anyhow, that's all.
Let me know if you try it, and see what sort of results you get.

if you don't have a well established site,, your productivity will go down,,
BTW,, i got working thumb tgp script,,
it automatically crops thumb and updates everyday,

thanks for the input guys..
i use adultbouncer and they host the wmv's but you need to keep a nice conversion ratio or else they'll cut the feature..
