Maybe I am drunk on wine and from watching too much Harry Potter but what exactly does a ban accomplish?
42 seconds later and a new account has been created, what exactly is the point and what does it achieve?
Is it just to make Eric feel powerful?
The point is, there are many many many users here that are using fake nicks. They were banned for whatever reason.. some good and some not so good and some will always return.
Why do they keep coming back you ask?
Well sometimes it's to troll, often it's to keep up with insider biz, maybe it's to sell a site of service but the number one reason banned users keep coming back is because they can. The stupidity of banning users and allowing them to create a new nick within minutes knows no bounds.
Take the recent case of user Clickity Click for example. He was banned for a single thread which was in hindsight a bad idea.
Would it not have been better to issue the OP a warning and delete the offending thread rather than an outright ban?
Probably Clickity was a fake nick of a fake nick of a fake nick. Users like him keep this forum alive.
Obviously rules need to exist but I would thinkwarnings first would be a good idea.
