    Trump lost $300k today

    Over one hundred and sixty small businesses, mostly contractors, have recently filed lawsuits against Trump for lack of payment. A small paint store in Florida had to sue Trump National Doral Miami golf resort to get it's final $34k payment. This company put a lien on the property, and the resort was nearly auctioned off. Today a judge in Florida ordered Trump National to pay $300k in legal fees for the paint shop.

    Trump just lost $300k because he refused to fork over $34k due to a local contractor.

                      The last I read there were dozens of companies that had put liens on him and taken him to court because he didn't pay them for work they had done on his projects.

                                  Shit at running a company, shit at hiring accountants or running short of money?

                                  Yes, people take as long as possible to pay their bills. But once it gets to having a lien or going to court. It's more expensive than just paying late.

                                  In the business world, where he's only operated so far, Trump has fucked up so many times it's a wonder he's got any reputation at all. Give him the Power that goes with the Presidency, then imagine what he will do. As for surrounding himself with advisors. What's his pass record like on that matter?

                                                  I read there are one hundred and sixty lawsuits pending from small contractors who haven't been paid. And even this seems to be a small fraction of the lawsuits currently pending against Trump.

                                                          When I was a building contractor I leined jobs I was not paid on within the statutory limit: 90 days of the last furnishing of labor to the contract.

                                                          I never had to foreclose --they always paid me with one exception; one builder went bankrupt and I had to write off 42K in contract damages and a small <5K actual loss.

                                                          When a developer or general contractor goes bankrupt your lein right is not so clear, the lein needs to be perfected, the Bankruptcy Court's Automatic Stay would apply and you would have a lot of legal costs with no guarantee of ever collecting as a secured (by real property) creditor.

                                                          Bankruptcy proceedings are a nice way to fuck over your contractors, employee unions, pension fund obligations, bondholders and wipe out the common stock holders' equity. In other words -- fuck everyone over ...

                                                              Trump has a thirty year history of this. Why pay full price when you don't have to? What he seems to do is wait until the work is done, and then they try to renegotiate or just not pay. A small firm with ten employees cannot afford an attorney at $500 an hour.

The business mentioned in this very thread is a perfect example. They put in a bid, it was accepted, they did the work, and the Trump tried to short them $40k. This most likely put their entire business at risk. Then in order to get that money, they had to shell out even more money to take on Trump.

                                                                                                              This is not an isolated case. Seems there are a lot of such cases.

                                                                                                              When Trump buys a hotel - with money loaned to him - and it goes belly up.... Everyone loses money. And hundreds if not thousands lose their jobs.

                                                                                                              What about people who bought condos from Trump? They put their live savings into a condo that was never built. They had to do sue him too:
