He's showing how much he is like Bush. They can only do one thing at a time; and they do it badly.

Another (brilliant yet questionable) move by the RNC and Rove. It's a lose-lose. If Obama does not comply, he will be vilified as caring more about his presidency and campaign and not putting 'country first'. If he does comply, it sets the standard for more potential rescheduling and delays and it allows McCain to recover, re-mobilize and re-strategize his seemingly faltering campaign that has stumbled over this last week.

It is smart by McCain. He looks like he really cares and wants to help and, like RP Fade says if Obama doesn't follow along he looks really bad. I think Obama will follow suit, but I think he and Biden will not stop their attacks on the republicans. Obama will probably try to make this look like, "The republicans fucked the country over, I'm going to help them bail themselves out." Either way the polls show that 2 to 1 people blame the republicans for this mess so no matter what the bailout ends up being it will hurt the republicans.

He's been afraid of big debates with Obama from the beginning. He cried to everyone with a camera when Obama declined his "invitation" to have many small town hall debates in cities across the country.

Of course he declined, he knows that fewer people will sit through 20 small debates than 3 big ones. McCain is weak on the issues and knows his campaign is already on the ropes. No big shock he would resort to more tricks to get out of it.

Smart move by McCain. Trying to take the lead over economic initiatives, even though he doesn't know shit about the economy.

The "poll of polls" only puts Obama a couple of % ahead (src = http://www.usaelectionpolls.com) so this is stll way to close to call and thats easily within the margin of error. I dont think McCain has much to gain by ducking out of the campaign. I think Obama will look like he isnt serious about the politics and only cares about winning if he doesnt join McCain and Bush to discuss this.

I do want Obama to win. McCain would be yet another disaster imo. I so wish I could vote in this one...

This is obviously a political move and not something to legitimately help the country with the 700B bill .... Bernanke and Paulson are both in the hot seat and most of the people are against the expenditure of those 700B to bail out WS without a transparency and oversight clause.. one or 2 more guys requesting the same thing most of the people in the senate are requesting will not make any difference...

What McCain has to gain is making Obama look like he isn't serious and only cares about winning. Since bringing Palin on board McCain can't use the inexperience card on Obama so he has resorted to trying to make him look like an elitist that can't connect with common people. This is a chance to make Obama look like he cares more about being president than about helping people out.

I think it won't help McCain though. I think eventually some kind of bailout will be made and most people will blame the republicans for this having to happen and McCain will have to endure that as he continues.

                                                      Are they already president ????

If not, and still senators, they can vote on the rescue package presented by the actual president, G W Bush ....

This is a lame attempt on highjacking the electoral process ....

But I can't figure out how he can breathe or type , at the same time ....

I agree, so Obama must play ball with that or look bad. But I think its a bad call as McCain needs the time to get back ahead.

I really dont get why McCain is even that close to Obama. When the world economy is basicly fucked, people want to vote for a guy who admits not understanding the economy...WTF

yeah really its a bit bad timing, how do u debate about education, gun control and other presidential debate topics when the whole financial markets are falling to shit. How can anyone take either of them seriously its all going to sound trivial with all of this shit going on. There is plenty of time to debate but lets make sure the whole banking world doesnt go to shit first. Priorities People!
