depends on the quality you expect - guess you'll find someone to do it for 99 bucks as well someone who'll do it 9999 bucks - remember, you always get what you pay for!

I've been shopping for the same.

I have received bids, or come across recommended designers who charge $500-5000.00 for a program website and design. Obviously the quality can vary. Some look all the same. Others think you are going to give them 50-100% down before they start. Others are more realistic, and prefer long time business relationships.

It's a crap shoot all the way around.

They should get paid whatever you are willing to pay them.

If they are too expensive for you, go to a cheaper one.
If the price is right, but the quality isn't... Spend more or find someone else.

The range is going to be between $500 and $5000+, that's the breaks. Pick one that has good enough quality and affordability for you, and go with it. I don't quite understand the purpose of this thread.

There is no "Standard web design pricing" out there. There is no what they "should" get paid. They charge what they charge. You pay what you pay. Find one that matches you.

Many people I first start business with thought I was over priced and thus never contacted me because of that belief that is semi popular around here.

Just last week I did a promo where I offered 2 complete tours with 3 pages each for 800.00. Thats 400 bucks for one 3 page tour. I have built some really good affiliates program designs for less than 1800.00 complete with Flash presenatation.
