I have the entrance to the basement outfitted as a linen closet with a false wall and shelves. Everything has to be taken out to enter it. I also have a small safe filled with a bag of rocks; should waste about 15 min of the burglers time getting it out of the house.Comment

I was cleaning our central heating inlet duct this evening and noted that it would be big enough for an adult to fit into... it's not a duct at all, it's just a void created as part of the frame of the house. Stick a ladder and trapdoor in there and you're all set!

when i had my torture chamber built, i flew in a team of builders from out of state..
they were picked up at the airport by my driver francisco and promptly blindfolded..
they did the work and were taken back to the airport, again blindfolded..
the only thing i wish i would have thought about was installing a very high heat furnace..
it would have made getting rid of the bodies a lot easier...Comment

Buy bookcase, build frame to fit around outside (snug but not too snug) small central post top and bottom allowing bookcase to spin centrally gaining access to room behind.
Hole in top and bottom of frame, sheath hole for smooth spin.

only one way .. do it your self ..... I have helped friends in the past dig out dirt bottom crawl spaces to the point we could get a bobcat in there .. as well had a friend design a faux bearing wall in a foundation to divide and conceal an area of about 2000sq' by 7' high .. access only through a nice little under the carpet/table in the dinning area years ago ..No sig .. just meComment

If you are building a new house you want the architect to put two walk-in closets into a room or put a closet in a hallway. Tell the architect you need a good amount of electrical outlets in the closet because you have "fur coats" going into that closet.
Let the house finish construction and the house get its final inspection.
Once all of the final inspections are done and all of the subs are out of the house... have the builder (who should be cool anyways) or a carpenter from at least 75 miles away come and install this:

There are a bunch of companies that sell these products with a bunch of different styles. The key is to make sure the baseboards, door, etc all match up and do not look stupid.
Let me tell you, from experience, all architects do this and every high-end home builder does this. Every house in New England built in the 1600 to 1800's have something hidden... and every house in my neighborhood have bunkers, panic rooms, hidden spaces, etc. Very, very common on million dollar and up houses and people will not look at you strange. Assuming you just want a panic room, not a whole hidden wing, talk to your local high-end security contractor and they will help you work with your architect / GC. They and their staff stand to lose a lot more when they break their bond agreements than they could ever steal from you - and if they don't, you should be hiring armed guards anyways.Pimp pimp... hooray!
