Digital ocean is my favourite - SSD speed, awesome backups and snapshots when you fuck something up. Choose a data center in a city or country you link. Droplets pre-configured with Apache, WordPress etc to make setup very fast.
Please post a little more about your setup and I can give some advice about what would work best. Often it's a good idea to keep your database on a different node etc.
Set up a Digital Ocean droplet as a load balancer and do the web serving from a few small droplets. Pretty easy to accomplish and will handle voluminous traffic spikes no problems.
Leaseweb - Rock solid VPSes with 4TB bandwidth on their lowest plan, great network and support. Their VPS prices start at $4.95/month for 1core/1gb/40GB disk/4TB bandwith
Ramnode - Quality OpenVZ and KVM VPSes, Ramnode always gets a ton of good reviews as they have been fantastic over the years and Nick is a great guy.
VULTR - In my opinion they beat out Digital Ocean in almost every way.
OVH - Their new 2016 line of VPSes are cheap as hell yet stable and come with their anti-ddos pro protection for free.
Liteserver.nl - They have kickass KVM and OpenVZ VPSes in the Netherlands, great support too.
HostUS - I have a $3/month KVM VPS from them located in Psychz Ashburn,VA location and it's been awesome so far.
For DDoS protection I use (usually do a reverse proxy via Nginx along with Cloudflare):
Trabia (formerly Hosteasy.eu) - Voxility with custom protection
SecureDragon - CNServers DDoS Protection
Ginernet - They have OpenVZ plans that come with an extra Voxility IP.
