this was actually last month - Youre a little late

but they only turned it on. they will hold minor test by december. They wont actually do what is planned until 2010.

It has been done on smaller levels with no catastrophic repurcusions.

Apparently they can shut it down and contain any blackhole that may begin to form.

I guess though we will only see what will happen. Very crazy though that they would try and do something that they say they have no clue about. Especially when the thought of worlds end is involved.

Pretty sure this again will just show that it is way to easy to get the title scientist and the ability to get sound bites. Just about every single time something new was done there was always a pack of people saying what will go wrong and how it shall end the world. "every second" if a black hole big enough to destroy the earth is actually made it won't even take a second to kill me. thridly please explain your physics theory to which we could make some microscopic black hole that will somehow "grow" into some huge thing. Our Sun isn't even big enough to become black hole. And even if you could some how turn out sun into a black hole it would even be the size of the earth. So how is MAN going to make one that big if the fucking SUN can't?

IF a black hole is created it is NOT bigger than the earth to start with. Black holes come in all sizes. But there is not enough matter at that point to make a big black hole. It is created in a vacuum with virtually no matter.

However, (and I hope this is true) wouldn't doing this completely DISPROVE religion at every level? It would prove how planets were formed. That is of course unless God built planets in 7 days by smashing particles. I guess that's possible too.

There are a number of things that they are hoping to find. These are the major points for their experiments with the LHC.

1. Rediscover the standard model: Basically reaffirm what they already know for a basis comparison to any possible new phenomena.

It is all a crap shoot. Just look at the first atomic bomb testing. Some scientists theorized that it was a very real possiblity that when the event occured it might ignite the nitrogen in our atmosphere destroying the entire planet.

At any rate I guess we will all find out soon enough.
