One difference is that all the Democrats in this thread are opposed to such legislation and wouldn't support it nor the "Democratic" Senator behind it. However, Republicans here seem to be completely ok with voting for and supporting those in office who pose threats to the industry, or dismissing the threat altogether. The sky didn't fall under the current administration but the atmosphere certainly changed.
It's a fine balancing act - to be a Republican in this industry. You get to have the 'socialist' Democrats fight the good fight for social liberties like accessibility to porn, but when it comes to economics play the Republican card - make out how Democrats are all poor and clueless. This industry wouldn't even exist were it not for those damned Liberals. Yes the sky did change! Porn has been saturated all over the Internet since 2000. I came into this Industry in 2003 and I even see a HUGE explosion of porn since then, so from 2000 it has to have grown even more. I kinda choose to believe what I see, over believing what people try to tell me or convince me to believe! I am not complaining about porn growing, but I do think that having that much free porn out there kinda fucks with peoples sales. I'm an independent...I state this first because I belong to neither of the religions (dems / reps) and I do like to state that point in advance because whenever I discuss politics I usually have Republicans calling me a liberal and Democrats calling me a conservative...because both groups view the world in a very black and white kind of way...I'm a shade of grey (computer tan gives me that color).
Now, you can take what I say as an attack against Democrats or you can see that there is cause for alarm in our industry regardless of who gets put into power. Who's the more likely to cause us trouble? McCain most likely, but that doesn't mean Obama is necessarily going to leave the industry alone.
A vote for Obama does not mean the industry gets left alone, it also doesn't mean the industry flourishes because there's many factors that can effect the profitability of the industry.
I happen to be voting for Nader, more as a protest vote against crappy candidates, but I live in NY and I have the luxury of casting that vote because I know which way our state would go. If I were in one of those battleground type states I would grit my teeth and vote for Obama but I wouldn't feel good about it...See Sig...oh wait.Comment
