    Ok, since I've spent the last two days talking insane crap to people I figured I need
    to do some work.

    So anyone with a domain name who wants me to do the install of tubecgi free version
    hit me up with you server(FTP login) info and I will do it today.

    If you don't have a domain yet then buy one today and hit me up now and I
    will install when your domain is live.

          There is a video on the website with complete install instructions plus if
          you click on the link that says "installation" there is a page with the install instrcutions
          on it too.

          Go to the bottom of the page for the install video at http://tubecgi.com

          It says demonstration video so I should change that to install video.

                          came up with the way to run programs on webservers.

                          Doesn't mean much after that.

                          You can easily customize this script. It has templates that you can edit thru the
                          script. you can even save different templates and recall them when you like.

                          Customizing can get tedious but that's just web design.

I've been meaning to start shit with you but I have been busy with other idiots lately. You're on the schedule. I'll get to you as soon as I can.

                                              The fact that you are a perl geek too makes me keep delaying picking a fight with you. It's nice to see someone who doesn't back down to the "php is better than CGI" idiots. Just because they don't understand Perl doesn't make it inferior. I always want to point out that CGI isn't a language.

                                                      and perl is also written in C .

                                                      Anyone doing php and thinking the are not cgi is asleep at the wheel.

                                                      Once dumb info gets out there it sticks to some people like glue.

                                                              Ever messed with Python? I think you're probably sharp enough to figure it out with ease. What a sexy language. I can't believe I waited so long to use it. I am almost done with a little video portal script for my own use that is written 100% in python with a sqlite backend. I did it just as a learning experience but it's too good to not actually use. Hell, if python is good enough for Google, it's certainly good enough for me. I almost like it as much as perl.

                                                                  The thing with PERL is that it's not a passing fancy like so much other stuff
                                                                  that came out in the last 10 years so it's always going to work on webservers.

                                                                  I don't want to develope a site with something and then down the road it becomes out
                                                                  of fancy and the hosting companies don't want to deal with it anymore and then I'm stuck
                                                                  redoing it in some other languge.

                                                                  There was a time when you had to find a host that had php; some hosting people back
                                                                  then just blew you off and wouldn't install php.
                                                                  They probably blew themselves out of business that way.

                                                                  The only advantage I have seen in new programming languages is that they make some
                                                                  functions easier to program. But if you've written as much code as I have then I
                                                                  just copy and paste and it's faster for me that way.

                                                                  To the user/surfer it doesn't make a damn what kind of script is running on the server
                                                                  so it's all about how the programmer likes to do things really.

                                                                          Perl has been around since 1987. Python has been around since 1991. It's not going anywhere either. Lately I have been having a ton of issues with hosts not having basic perl modules installed (like libwww or URI) and they almost never have image::magick. I love perl but I have my doubts about its future. Python has gotten pretty popular over the last few years. No idea why but it has.

                                                                                                          Phatservers has everything my script needs without even asking on their cheapest
                                                                                                          accounts.

                                                                                                          And if they just added a new server that doesn't have everything then email them
                                                                                                          and it will be fixed in a matter of minutes.

                                                                                                                                                                              You need to rename or remove your "index.html" because it will come up before
                                                                                                                                                                              the "index.shtml" which is the site.

                                                                                                                                                                              If you wanted a warning page then put the warning in the "index.html" and link it to
                                                                                                                                                                              the "index.shtml".

                                                                                                                                                                                      Actually it's easy to install but reading all the instructions and watching the
                                                                                                                                                                                      video takes longer than it takes for me to install it.

                                                                                                                                                                                      The thing is, for someone who does this often it's a snap.
                                                                                                                                                                                      But for a first timers all the little stuff about file type, upload binary or ascii, and
                                                                                                                                                                                      file permissions can get them stuck. And if something is not right on the server
                                                                                                                                                                                      it's hard to figure it out.

                                                                                                                                                                                      Basically if you set you FTP transefer mode to the proper file extensions as shown in the
                                                                                                                                                                                      video then upload the tube folder. And chmod 755 install.cgi and run it, then you are
                                                                                                                                                                                      thru.

                                                                                                                                                                                      But if you mess up the ftp tranfer file types then things will not work correctly.

I'm getting a 500 error after I input a u/p.

                                                                                                                                                                                          Then again, I have had 6 icq conversations and 3 interruptions from the munchkin since I started installing it, so I can't imagine how I could have lost my focus and gotten off track.

                                                                                                                                                                                              That means that you server is missing either imagemagick, perlmagick, libwww or
                                                                                                                                                                                              one of the libwww modules.

                                                                                                                                                                                              See the test script above and tell your host that you need that to run.
