A great director who will definitely be missed. His movies were always about the underdog, and sometimes the underdog wasnt' even the type you'd normally like or root for.......

          Yes, a great movie.

Schlensinger was a talented director. His death is a great loss.

I used to get high on life but then I built up a tolerance.

Midnight Cowby is probably my favorite movie of all time.

I don't know why, but when I first saw it as a kid *edited on television* I just latched onto it.

My mother was always taking me to see weird and controversial films like Tommy, Andy Warhol's Frankenstein every Woody Allen flick that came out.

My older brother and sister would be in school and we'd hit a matinee, or she'd load us all up in the station wagon and we'd go to the drive in.

Anyway I digress. Movies have been in my blood for a very long time, my father actually introduced me to this film and every time I got a chance to see it I swear to God, I would hope that when in the end on the bus he tried to wake up Rizzo the little bastard would wake up.

Quiet is correct about the movie having an X rating. However this was during a time when the X was nothing more than somethign similar to an NC-17 until the Adult Movie Industry co-opted it and started to use it for their films.

Interesting thing was one year in LA they played it unedited and uncut one late night, they discussed the history of the movie and it's x-rating and how society has changed over the years.

This movie now gets an R rating.

              obviously.

i have the anniversary edition dvd, there is a long interview with Schlensinger. in one part, he talks about after the academy award, they asked him to simply cut 5 seconds (or maybe it was 15 seconds) from the film anywhere, then they would get rid of the X rating. they were obviously embarassed at this film winning best picture, and having the rating. of course he basically told them to fuck off...

                LOL...what's to be embarassed about?

prostitution, MALE prostitution, drugs, con games...LOL

These are probably two of the most pathetic characters in movie history but you fucking love them.

One of my favorite all time scenes is where Rizzo is trying to keep warm and is dancing that stupid little dance in his apartment.

also one of the most played out scenes from the movie and you see it often in other movies is the where they are crossing the street and the cabbie almost hits Rizzo and he yells.."I'm walking heyah!"
