    Rant Instant international wire transfers?

    How do they do them in da movies?

          If you have bank accounts in multiple countries and they fall within the same country as the recipient other than that it's like adraco said its just the movies.

              Sure, everything should be for real. For instance you do not see cars driving at 500km/h because they keep it to what is real in reality. Why should wire transfers be any different?

                  Good question, as they always show it as instant, and in reality it takes minimum 24 hours to arrive but in most cases several days. Perhaps they use paypal lol

                                  Yeah, I laugh everytime I seen that in the movies - instant bank transfer of $100MM from good guy to bad guy.

                                  Actually, the fastest I've seen in reality is 20 minutes - when we got re-imbursed our Epassorte Virtual Visa balance. I was talking with the bank guy to verify the amount, and literally 20 minutes later the amount showed up in our bank account. Five figure amount.

                                      It can be done in a few minutes, and even on a Sunday. Banks just tell you it can't. The cash desks at all the A and B investment firms and banks can place cash directly in any account in the fedwire system if they are trusted by the counterparty.

                                          My online wires through Citibank are almost paypal-like instant to other banks in the USA, during business hours.

                                              I know the slimy company Bank America, gives you instant credit 24x7x365. And they are fast out. Unless you have really big business account, it was $40 when I sent one a couple of years ago. But companies I worked for got free wires. Just deposit a few million a day, and see how those fees disappear.

                                              Reason for slow transfers. Making interest on your float.

                                                  I loves movies. Bad guys or good guys have a 10 minute start, but the other team always catches them and also know which way they went.
