US suicide rate 30 year high

Seriously guys, we need to think about it. It is becoming quite frequent nowadays. If a person is fired from job or a young lady has gone through bad relationships, they all try to take their lives.

Something needs to done.

No one understands suicide better than I understand it since I think about it every day multiple times since I was maybe eleven

We ALL want what we cannot have . . . Me I am not allowed to die for certain reasons . . Like a lot of men want women they can't have or cars they couldn't buy . . I want peace and rest, always have ..

Exactly. If it was at an average of 1 a year and then went to 2 that's a 100% increase, but if there's countries out there with 20 who gives a shit? Eastern Europe, Russia, Korea and Japan have the highest. Korea and Japan because of the culture and eastern Europe/Russia because those places are complete shitholes.

i wonder how many car accidents etc are actually suicides, and how much that changes this number

this has been 'a developing epidemic' since the last 90s, and in all developed nations, and not just the States. Record suicide numbers each year starting in 1999, and i believe 2013 was the last time 'we' really discussed it.

however, if you can't get a militaristic patriotic nation to concern itself with veteran suicides, somehow the general suicide rate will be different?

IMO...as our society progresses, a couple things are happening...

there are more potholes in the road of life, AKA places where you can screw your life up & ruin your dreams. drug abuse. payday loans. student loans. underwater mortgages. marrying the wrong person & having kids with them. sports & online gambling. proliferation of guns. as society has more pleasures & has freedom, more people are self destructing by making poor decisions they cant recover from.

then there is a sort of social expectation, that you go to college, get married, have a house a job & 2.2 kids by the time your 30, or else your a loser. magazines post pictures of the most beautiful people from around the world. in 1870 the local magazine had the local hag, who back then had high expectations for personal appearance? you see in pics, the way people used to dress in the past. ugly.

its just harder & harder, as people create higher & higher standards for themselves to accomplish. there was some kid in santa barbara a while back, shot up a bunch of people because he was not rich or pretty enough in his mind. He was attractive & drove a beemer, but wasnt good enough, went psycho. More & more i feel school shooters are lashing out at these trends, these expectations of beauty wealth & perfection reflected by the media.

just IMO.

Most of this increase is a direct result of the bad economy.

Much of Sanders and Trump's support comes from people who's jobs have already been off shored or are likely to be off shored. Trump and Sanders are also speaking out on the dire need for better healthcare and services for veterans.

Of course, the slugs in Washington couldn't care less about any of the people whom Sanders and Trump are reaching out to, but the slugs are clearly afraid of Trump and Sanders.

Sadly, if neither Trump nor Sanders is elected in November those suicide numbers are likely to explode

to digress a little, i was looking at a 10 year chart for all the countries with the worst of these problems.. and it's disturbingly similar to the top 10 richest countries.
