I did about 8 years ago. It worked great. They only sell good used cars that have passed inspections. I also like the fact their prices are set and you don't have to worry about negotiating with a tard for 3 hours.

So yeah, I'd recommend them to anyone looking for a good used car.

I sold my car 4 years ago to them and they are good. You can generally get a few thousand more trying to sell it yourself.

i've done it before, and if the car is not at your local carmax ship it in from. I think its a $500 deposit plus $100 shipping to do that. The deposit is credited towards your down payment or purchase.

Did you know that CarMax OWNS a majority of BMW dealerships in the US?
              Like the actual dealerships...

I found this out by going toe to toe with Mini last week here in Houston. They own the Momentum one.. and the one in the Woodlands..

yeah... in a town where i lived (bellevue washington - nice suburb of seattle) - there is a street with a lot of car dealerships - toyota, chevy, dodge, mercury etc etc... one day they were all empty. i asked while i was getting my car serviced what happened the guy said all those dealerships were owned by car max. i had no idea that they had so much going on.

I was in the car business for many years. Carmax is a rip off for purchases. The only good thing about them is that they have EVERYTHING. There cars are way over prices and they do not negotiate prices. If you are looking to sell a car they usually give a couple extra bucks because they will charge more for the car in the long run.

this is for there used car mega stores or online used cars.

I'm surprised they are still around. I figured like everything else Circuit City started, it would have burned itself out based on it's holier than thou attitude.

Unlike Circuit City, Carmax makes a big profit per-sale on there cars. They also have just about any used car you can look for. Compared to most retail dealerships that stock used cars they've got a giant selection.
