I read that the hands of ALL gymnasts rip and bleed, it's just the nature of the sport. All gymnasts who compete on a high level endure pain, ripped and bloody hands etc and that all of the stretching you see there is actually standard. That's what it takes to be the best.Comment

elite athletes in the US and elsewhere though also pay a high price and many leave their families at a young age to get better coaching etc and have their childhoods robbed from them not to mention their bodies put through things that aren't healthy for a young growing body in the long run. Female gymnastics seems to the worst sport for the physical and mental abuse because they're trying to build champions before they reach full adulthood - even the 20 year old American girls voices sound like midget voices - that ain't right.I moved my sites to Vacares Hosting. All gymnasts, I think started when they were kids and even younger, so it's not an issue.

There was a story this week where they talked about how the Romanians have lost their dominance in women's gymnastics because after the fall of communism they couldn't build these "gymnastics mills" anymore. The coach was complaining that the girls do too much text messaging and listening to Ipods to commit to it. Now that it is more something the girls choose to do as opposed to being forced into they don't do so well.Comment

It's not just about the Olympics you retards.
The Chinese often dominate many gymnastic events around the world. It is an honor for their family to have their child do this.
And don't even get started about the Chinese circus people. OMFG. You have not seen a circus until you have seen the Chinese do it. It's unlike anything you have ever seen. In fact, many of the entertainers from Vegas come from China and parts of Europe where such brutal training takes place.
It takes great sacrifice to achieve excellence. Doesn't matter from where they are from or what colors they fly, all athletes who have truly reached the top of their game, have sacrificed. It's just sad it has to be the way it is, however, for the Chinese and many other countries, this is not an issue.
We can't even spank our own kids in the USA anymore without risk of legal issues. LOL
The Chinese will run the world someday. Maybe in our lifetime. Get used to it. Have your kids start learning Mandarin today, they are gonna need it!!!!!Comment
