The scientists tell us, 99.9% of all species that have ever lived on the planet are now extinct. So, if we assume that to be even somewhat true and accurate, then it's not difficult to make a reasonable conclusion that we will follow in that same path. The only real difference with us is that we bury our heads in the sand and tell ourselves that "we are different. we are special." when it simply isn't true. If we don't do it to ourselves by way of destroying the earth or consuming every last resource, then some extinction level event like Yellowstone or or a massive meteor strike is, and will, happen eventually, which is entirely out of our control. It's only a matter of time.

Yeah, I don't see many dolphins flying helicopters or manatees docking on the ISS in the near future. But you are right, we are exactly the same as them..
