Oculus Founder: Rift will come to Mac if Apple ?ever releases a good computer?

"You can buy a $6,000 Mac Pro with the top-of-the-line AMD FirePro D700, and it still doesn’t match our recommended specs."

I don't know if it matters what he says about anything, since the HTC Vive looks like the best option for VR.

I mostly use Macs, but it's a shame the direction things seem to be headed...

Please bring back the xserv, a real desktop, and fix final cut would be a good start.

We are writing software for the Rift. In my office I have both PC's and a Mac. It flies on the PC (Alienware) with everything enabled to the max.

On my 2013 Macbook Air, we have to disable a few features to get a good smooth frame rate so that looking around in the rift doesn't create any jaggies or jumps. To me its a satisfactory experience.

However, after about 15 minutes, the Macbook Air's fan turns on and spins fast as its obviously getting hot. My IMac 2009 does the same thing, but my iMac 2011 does not. I'd have to check the spec but I think the graphics processor is faster / better in the 2011 than on the 2009 and Macbook air.

Regardless, thats a really balsy statement from Oculus, but maybe Apple will pay attention and bring out faster GPU's in their newer machines.

The file type restrictions of Final Cut Pro are absolutely ridiculous. I should not need to download additional plug-ins to work with what is now the standard file types.

            I went back to Premier.

This statement is more of an indictment on Oculus than on Apple.

In a couple of years the Rift will be as relevant to VR as the Amiga is to the contemporary Desktop OS.

It's a nice concept and it's one of the first out of the gate and shows incredible promise as to what we can look forward to in the future - the same could be said about the Amiga 1000 when it was released.

That low virus argument is always funny to me. I know someone who switched to Mac solely for that reason, because he was too dumb to install a Malware program along with his anti-virus.
