Sheriff Steve Loftis fired Tollison, who also faces criminal charges for the incident, which took place May 15.

I don't understand how people say just stop resisting... when someone is kicking the shit out of you how in the hell can you just sit there, it just isn't possible. Even after 1 hard blow, your hands fly right up.
Your hands can be behind your back and you can be willing but if you start taking painful blows to the face, head or anywhere else (whether you did something wrong or not) how can you NOT instinctively cover up or reach out to block the hand beating you?
Picture you getting your ass violently whipped by 3 people at once from every angle, and all you "NEED" to do is stay still and put your hands behind your back to make them stop. You don't know how many blows are going to come your way when you put your guard down, how long it will take for them to stop OR even if they are going to stop... a fight is a fight is a fight.

I totally agree with you about doing what the police say when they say it... the point I was trying to make was whether the guy listened or didn't, as soon as you take a good & hurtful blow you instinctively defend yourself... then you get your ass kicked more for 'resisting', but how can you NOT resist when this happens?
Hypothetically, what if 1 blow was enough to make joe blow do as he was told... but he instinctively defends himself after that first blow, not fighting back but maybe reaching out, covering up, or trying to control the weapon (prob the worst thing to do ) or keep it from hitting him again.... that would be 'resisting' & give the cops all the right to keep whipping his ass.
This all happens so fast this guy thinks shit they're not going to stop and keeps trying to prevent injury (ie, covering up and not being ABLE to put his hands behind his back).
I'm not saying the cops shouldn't kick your ass if you don't listen, there's just a fine line between protecting yourself & resisting that is probably very difficult for a police officer to determine, especially in a situation like this.112.020.756Comment

I knew a guy that hated the cops too. A white middle class guy with no real reason other than they pulled him over for speeding in his BMW twice in a month.
One day he was walking from a softball game in Harlem and got jumped by 3 black guys. Guess who saved his ass.... 2 cops who happened to be right around the corner. Now he fucking loves the cops.Comment

I know, I agree with that. I was just saying that resisting and protecting yourself might appear the same to police in some situations...
I can see how some people end up getting their asses kicked very badly because 1 or 2 "move your ass" blows caused them to cover up... putting the cop into a situation where he thinks the person is resisting and has to be more aggressive.
This card can be played very well by defense lawyers, etc... the cop was just doing his job, etc.

I have gotten pulled over by cops, had a girl busted in a place I worked and I was the manager in the building, had the cops come into a illegal after hours club I worked in NYC.While all the tough drugged out bikers hid downstairs in a closet,I dealt with them. I was always very polite like it was a social call, never got arrested never got harassed.Comment

what else do you need lol? the clip of the 13 punches to face is enough. It would be wrong in ANY situation. The police are not paid by taxpayers to punch people in the face.
