    What The F*#K?

Alright perverts, I need your opinion on something.......

A few weeks ago I launched CaptureGirls...and in that time, I've had 2 perspective clients ask me to share with them who my other clients were. Since my packages are licensed on a very limited basis, I've had a few people ask me if I would tell them who the other buyers were for the package that they were interested in buying. One even went on to say that every other photographer that they have licenses content from has not had an issue telling them who the other content was sold to. Is it me or is this total bullshit? So.... content producers are happy to share their client base with their other clients?

Well, I would guess they want to know how closely they compete with the other clients.

Personally, I would keep that info confidential and just tell people that you limit it to X number of people to keep the content's value up.

I don't think anyone has the right to know if you don't want them to, or if another party purchasing the sets wants competitors to not know.

One of these perspective clients walked away from doing business with me because I wouldn't share this info.....but the other has seen the light (while I am post this) and has decided to buy. I told them that instead of worrying about who my clients were - concentrate on getting the material up quickly in their members area before their competitors do. I guess that worked

As a producer I would be happy to share that information with my other clients but only after the purchase was made. As a client who is paying a premium price for semi-exclusive content I wouldn't make the purchase without knowing this information. A producer who refused the info would throw up red flags as to how many licenses he was actually selling as compared to how many he claims to be selling. Also if I ran across said content on another site I would then know whether it was there legally so I wouldn't waste your time contacting you every time I saw the stuff.

                      BTW, it's 'prospective'.

                        Your joking right ?
Any producer wanting to rip you off can easily say "i sold this content to 5 sites" and just give you five names while selling to 20 more. Giving out info like that proves absolutely nothing...

It proves who has the rights to be using it so if I find the content someplace else I know that either A) Somebody is stealing the content that I paid a premium price for to be one of a select few to use or B) The producer is selling more copies of the content than he agreed to sell. Either way I have a very valid reason to be pissed off.

Personally I don't see what all the secrecy is about. I mentioned before that I wouldn't give out the info (as a producer) until after the purchase was made and even then I would only give the client a list of the few other URLs that the content is licensed to be used on. It's not like you are releasing trade secrets or personal information here.

Well the issue that I was having is that these folks wanted the information "before" they purchased the material....not after. Not that it mattered much because I won't be sharing that kind of information before or after the sale. IMO it's nobodies business who I sell content to but mine.

I guarantee you none of my clients have time in their busy schedules to surf their competitors sites looking for content that I sold them on a limited basis and then to research to see if someone stole that content or if I lied to them about how many times I sold it. I haven't built my reputation on screwing folks over.....so when I say the content will be sold only 10 times - that's what I mean. If someone has an issue trusting me on this - then they shouldn't be doing business with me.

maybe you can get a list from clients of who they don't want to compete with... that way you can follow up with them if their competition wasn't buying a particular set

i guess timing it would be a little tricky because you'd have to wait until sale #9 before you could guarantee anything

just throwing stuff out there... maybe some kind of variation of that

Since it's semi-exclusive, I wouldn't see the need to know the other 'xx number of buyers'. If it was exclusive and a first buy - the only reason I'd ask who you do business with is to get a reference on you.

As a long time content buyer, I would say the reason for asking if buying semi exclusive, is to help determine how "exposed" the content will be, and help judge its value to the buyer.

If one of the buyers is hahaha (who can put the material on about 4 million sites at this point) it will make the material less valuable to the guy buying than if it was sold to Joe Shit the porn webmaster who is going to show it to 14 people a month.
