People are stupid. I believe that a certain percentage of the people are just mentally retarded. But I also believe that a certain percentage of the people are mentally retarded but operate as functioning adults - if only barely.
I have a friend like this. He's been on disability for twenty years, medically retired, owns a house, drives a car, owns firearms.... Has had a dozen operations on his brain and functions as a sixteen year old.
