    Should this type of marketing be illegal?

    I think it's misleading and borderline fraud. To most people, they'll think this is actually an ESPN sports article, but in reality, it's an ad for a workout supplement. I was even led there by a link on a popular news website's sports page. Even the FB comments below are completely fabricated. I don't know how to feel about it. On one hand I think it's clever, but the ethical side of me says it's wrong.

              I see those all the time on yahoo page! I wonder why companies like espn doesn't sue the affiliate and sponsor I'm guessing these are probably the same people who use stolen content on banners to promote shit

                          It is trademark and copyright infringement. Civil and not criminal. ESPN has to C&D then file suit if necessary.

                          Search engines are not that bright (yet).

                                                              I gotta say, some nutraceutical companies are the dirtiest shadiest marketers online - they make some of the worst things porn did look downright angelic lol. Nutraceuticals are responsible for the FTC taking a harder stance on recurring billing, deceptive practices and some of the more significant changes to the billing industry have come as a result.

                                                              Search "nutraceuticals ftc" you'll see some insane cases. My favourite is the one about Colotox being a cure for cancer - just shit it out!

                                                              The FTC even created a video to educate consumers specifically calling out Free Trials and nutraceutical products:
