In a spiral down market it is hard to create demand for a mid-price product/service like this might be. The early adopter high-end market will most likely be a flash in the pan. I doubt this will ever become a disruptive market just what I call a mee-too selling feature.
I read a article about a surgical team that planned a complex operation on a 1 year old child using VR to design the surgical procedure. Had they been able to utilize laser scalpels with the VR goggles then I can see a speciality use for this technology in a high-end market -- surgical specialities.
