My wife makes and eats those. BTW, I make that shawarma in my post above with pork. My recipe is the following: white cabbage, Chinese cabbage, carrot, sweet pepper, cucumber, pickle, cherry tomatoes and roast pork. That's is for stuffing. Plus a sauce (1/3 of sour cream, 1/3 of mayonnaise, 1/3 of tomato ketchup, garlic, dill and chilly pepper). I smear a thin Caucasian pita bread with a sauce, put vegetables over it, after that I put small pieces of roast pork and wrap it. Put for a about 30 seconds to a heated pan by each side and voilà !
Actually it's a very healthy food. If you remove pork meat and mayonnaise, it will be a low-calorie dietetic food.
You are trolling, right? Because no one sane person will eat that is shown at your picture. It looks just disgusting (not mention the "products" it made of). BTW, a so-called 3rd-world national kitchen (e.g. Arabian, Indian, Thai, Chinese etc) is much healthy than the one you are used to eat in crustyburgers. So 3rd world and Muslim does not mean bad when we are talking about food. And FYI: Muslims don't eat pork

Here is as well. But they are usually use chicken, while I prefer pork. So I want to make it by myself from the exact those products I like, to be 100% sure they are fresh and there is no GMO poison. Also I can be sure everything is made the way I like it. For example, I'm used to fry the pork meat pieces in olive oil only. Somebody else may prefer a sunflower oil etc. It's just a matter of taste.Obey the CowgodComment

One time when I was to the USA, I had to eat mostly burgers only, because we were traveling across the country and there is a real problem to find a normal organic restaurant near interstates. Believe me or not, but I've got about 15 kg plus to my weight during that trip. So thank you, I will never eat that kind of "food" again...
P.S. I don't want to say there are no good restaurants in the States. There is a ton of them if you live in NYC, New Orleans, Dallas, LA etc (lots of ethic national food ones, for example). But not when you are traveling from one state to another. All the road infrastructure there is like a gas station + a motel + some fast food like like Burger King, Mcdonalds etc.Obey the CowgodComment

I'd say that gyro is most like fachitas - a rather thick tortilla you put the food components in (just like a constructor). A classic shawarma is a kebab (doner kebab) as mineistaken mentioned above. It's made of thin pita only. IMHO.

There is no cabbage in burgers. The burger cutlets are too overfried. Anyways, I have nothing against the home-made burgers if you are absolutely sure that the components are fresh and have no GMO and other poisons. I'm making burgers by myself as well - there is nothing wrong with that. But I will never ever eat a burger made in fast food pukerants. Guess why?
P.S. As about mayo. There is only one spoon of sauce (1/3 of which is mayonnaise) for the whole shawarma. I don't know how come, but 90% of that white substance by sides on the picture is a raw white and Chinese cabbage. Looks like a side affect of a flash in my phone
