                              I take it that no one bothered to read the article. Here's some highlights:

                              Canada will make an additional five-year, $2.65 billion contribution to help developing countries tackle climate change. It's for an international climate fund seeking to raise $100 Billion by 2020.

                              The "Canada is back" line is a reference to the last priminister of Canada, Steven Harper, who was a climate change denier, and a conservative who loved him too much oil.

                              The funds are to help the "poorest and most vulnerable countries in the world adapt,” Trudeau said in a statement.

                              Canada has now exceeded the $4 billion target that environmental groups have been urging it to meet as its “fair share,” based on the country’s national wealth.

                              The United Nations Children’s Fund said the contribution helps establish Canada as a global leader in helping vulnerable children in poor countries affected by climate change.

                                  and i find it hilarious that Trudeau thinks that Canada getting back on track to stop global warming means giving billions to 3rd world countries. still waiting for trudeau to mention what, you know, Canada will actually do itself to curb global warming. besides the fact your economy is in a downward spiral.

                                                  True. Canada's green rep sucks. But as I said, Harper is out and since Trudeau has been in (a month?) it's good to see a positive stance on climate change. I know they are adding several hundred more EV charging stations, keeping or increasing the EV tax credit, and giving EV drivers free travel on toll roads and use of reserved lanes so maybe this is all part of it. I'm just glad to see cool steps in the right direction.

You break out the big bad calculator and you figure out how many regular lightbulbs you can replace in the country. Then you figure out how much energy those mean little pricks suck. Then you replace all of those pricks with these nice guys and you have your lightbulb energy use down to 15-20% of what it originally was!

                                                                                                                  Now that's impact!

                                                                                                                  "First World" countries can't "take care" of "Third World" countries until we take care of ourselves. Call it insensitive, mean, whatever you want, but when the top 20 energy sucking countries in the world are all major powers, there is absolutely no reason to be worrying about some sub-Saharan country that is barely a blip on the energy map.

                                                                                                                  Focus on the big targets for a real, actual impact. Anyone that TRULY appreciates the environment should be pissed off about these half measures and push for changes that actually make a difference.
