True dat. Tampa has the most strip clubs, "lingerie" shops, adult bookstores, and swing clubs than I've ever seen in a US city. You can't throw a rock around the Bucs stadium without hitting an adult establishment.

Considering that the judge who denied the request is the same one who oversaw the original trial, did anyone expect her to say "Yeah, my first trial sucked let's have another"?

Here is what bothers me most about his case. It isn't the content. I think you can take 12 people from just about anywhere, show them Max's stuff and they may find it obscene. It is not for everyone, including me, but I think he should be allowed to produce it.

That said the real problem is that some of the convictions were for movie trailers that are on his website. This means that that a group of jurors from bum-fucked nowhere in Florida have now decided what can and cannot be seen on the internet. That isn't right. I am sure I can find a community somewhere in the US that thinks artistic nude pictures or things that are very tame like Playboy are obscene and now this case could open up the door to those types of prosecutions. If you put it on the web someone somewhere might be offended by it and they can drag you into court wherever that may be. That isn't right. The internet is a paid for service that has tons of filtering options on it. If you go online, unfiltered and find something you think is obscene you brought that on yourself you asked for full access and you got it. This case, if allowed to stand, could open up the gate and provide established case law and that is disturbing.

How can you say that?

A) the models get paid

People entering this business are adults. They make choices. Sometimes those choices have consequences. Call me crazy but if I was going to go shoot a porn video and I didn't know anything about the people I was shooting with I would check out some of their other work to see what I thought. Also these girls can say no and stop, but they don't. Now I'm not saying that they aren't afraid and I understand that it is easier to say something than to actually do it, but still at some point are we not responsible for our own actions? Can I start hanging out with people because I think they are cool then I find out they are about to rob a bank and I go along with them I get shot or end up in jail and I blame them for dragging me into the robbery when I could have just walked away?

Personally I think that people who are into this type of content (including simulated rape stuff) are fucked in the head. I do, however, also believe that some of them watch this stuff and they get their rocks off on it instead of going out and trying to do it in person. I'm not going to debate the sociological impacts of Max Hardcore, but I still think if two consenting adults want to have rough, extreme sex, video it and sell it they should be allowed to do so.

The battle for many freedoms are fought at the fringes. Larry Flynt famously said that if the first amendment will protect a scumbag like him the rest of us can rest easy. With that in mind sometimes you end up supporting things you are not a fan of or even in full agreement with.

Show me any proof that ANY of his models was forced to do what they did. Show me a model that had no clue to who max hardcore was or what kind of porn you make and I'll show you one dumb whore.
