A good friend of mine, owns Americaunderattack.com. When the attacks came he got an immense amount of traffic since the CNN coverage was called "America Under Attack".
Problem is that it is very difficult to make money on a site like that. He supposedly had some guys threatning him and stuff when he put up a few simple banners to dating sites (non-adult) and stuff like that.
Good thing he lives out of the US. If he wanted to be a real mean bastard he would have just 404'ed the whole site to Offshore Clicks and then go hide under a rock and collect his cheques.

plenty of people make $$ off of dead people. it's a HUGE business. have you ever died? your name along with your family's names are sold by whoever handles your body (cremation, burial, etc) to all sorts of people who will try to cash in on your death.
speaking of burial, check out the insane costs associated there. yow.
