Spec!!
When I wrote I never, ever wrote on spec or submitted a query letter. I always got the assignment first then did the research. I realize this made me rather rare and quite awesome.
Try a broader angle like 'Decades old programs people still use and refuse to let go". (Windows XP, MySpace, ICQ, AOL, etc)

When i was first introduced to the online adult porn industry I would try doing business with others and find their pages always had email and/or "icq", at first I had no idea wtf that was (this was wayyyyyyyyyyyy back in late 90's or early 2000). So eventually I decided to comply and get my own ICQ.
It still seems to be used widely with us adult webmasters, but tbh most of my biz is now done through Skype (more than ICQ) nowadays.If you think tough men are dangerous, wait until you see what weak men are capable of.

Back in 1998 when a lot of guys started it was the only available option.
When new people came to the industry and wanted to do business they had no choice but to install it also, even though better options were available already.
Even now there are still webmasters that don't use Skype or Telegram or Hangouts but do have ICQ.
But it perfectly describes this industry, people don't like change. That's why their industry has been taken over by smarter people who embrace change. Everyone I work with that has serious traffic is on Skype. The guys that stick with ICQ are probably the same guys that complain about the tubes and that no money can be made in porn anymore. And people like affiliate reps and program owners that have no choice because others are to suborn to change to better alternatives.Comment
