A Salt Lake audience was engrossed in the new action-packed Batman movie when it was interrupted. Police stopped the film to arrest a father who was watching the movie while his child sat in a locked car in the Century 16 theater parking lot.

It was almost 2 a.m. Sunday when the 2-year-old boy was finally rescued from the car. The temperature inside was 87 degrees, but that wasn't the only threat facing him.

A mother accidently left a little boy in the back of her Expedition, while she was getting her nails done for her wedding.

The little boy died! Supposedly the mother didn't know, and the kid got into the car on his own...

On the news they were very graphic describing how the little boy's lips had swollen and blistered in the short time period.

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- West Palm Beach authorities say a mother didn't know her son was in her locked car as she got her nails done before her wedding. The boy later died at a hospital.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office said Sunday that 29-year-old Mirland Baptiste thought the boy was with three other children that she'd dropped off at a relative's house. Police are investigating whether the child, identified as Gregory Cesar, might have sneaked back into the car.

His mother was supposed to get married later that day. Instead, the family mourned the boy's death at the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police said the mother was hysterical and had to be sedated after learning her son had died.

Officials say the boy may have been in the car for more than two hours. Temperatures outside had reached 90 degrees.

The medical examiner is awaiting the result of toxicology tests before determining the cause of the child's death.

Across the U.S., 18 children have died in hot cars in 2008. This weekend's case is the second this year in Florida.

There were incidents at Melbourne's Crown Casino where compulsive gamblers were leaving babies locked in cars while they played the poker machines...

I don't understand why (in the OP case) the police would have waited for the fire dept to "gain access" to the vehicle. If I saw a kid stuck in the car I'd tell him to look away and smash the front window... you don't waste time with that shit.

When my daughter was first born I got in my car with her still on the roof.. she was maybe 2 months old. I was in the middle of a conversation with my wife... as soon as I sat down I remembered...

I could NEVER nor would I ever leave my child in the car while goign anywhere for more than a minute. I leave my daughter in the car (she's 8) while I pay for Gas.. only if she is within an eyeshot and the doors are locked ..

It's a sad world we live in.

A few years ago I heard on the radio about a guy who left his 2 year old in the car so he could go hunting, it was the first day of hunting season.
When the child awoke he got out of the car to go look for his father, got lost in the woods and froze to death (it was snowing)

Castration and death aren't a harsh enough punishment for people like that.

My wife locked our < 3yo daughter in the car when she got petrol until I pointed out that if something bad happened the people helping her may not realise there's a kid stuck in the car. Imagine if she was tapped by a car and got carted off to hospital? They would attend to her first, and eventually think about moving her car; by then it could be too late.

He should have found a babysitter. Little kids in movies do suck. They do not usually want to be there and they make noise during the movie.

I went and saw the movie and there really wasn't a whole lot a 2 year old could have understood or seen that was totally bad. There was no sex scenes really at all or anything. The Joker was kind of scary, but he could have at least brought the kid in and let him sleep in his arms while he watched the movie and at least know the kid was okay and in the A/c. I saw several couples with kids there and most of their kids just slept through it. Anyway, I can't believe he left his kid in the car. Everyone knows kids die in hot cars, been happening for years. i doubt he'll ever see his kid unsupervised ever again, if at all

But you have NO idea how a 2 year old would process a movie like this. It's not about what he/she would understand.
We're talking about a 2 year old!

The violence, the explosions, etc etc..but forget the movie for sec...those loud sounds in the theater are way to loud for a child that age. Hell, my son is three and i would never let him view this film in the theaters at his age. The content itself is not appropriate whatsoever for him (let alone a 2 year old).

But we all parent differently....and that's just my opinion.
