That's not true...it depends on how much you are making. If you're earning less than a liveable wage on your site you are still amateur. Same with amateur models, amateur golfers, amateur whatever. Just because you make some money and have been making some money for a LONG time does not mean you're not amateur. I've been modelling for 3 years and getting paid to do it, does that make me a pro? NO WAY.
That being said you are right insofar as I actually was meaning sites that are totally run by the girls and are not run by a company using the girl as a personality.

My website is not like so many other "amateur" sites where the girls are said to be amateur but in reality, they are just pro models made to look amateur. I personally go out in public and talk with these girls about working for my website and they either go for it or they don't. In alot of cases, they go for it and out of the 4 years since my website has been online, I have NEVER missed one single update and I update once every 7 days with new and fresh amateur girls. Sites run by large companies should be banned from using the word "amateur" imho but that'll never happen
But I still say if someone has been doing this long enough and know what they are doing then they stop being an amateur though I suppose it comes down to a persons definition of "amateur". For porn my definition is someone new to the biz who may not be using the best equipment or know absolutely nothing about what they are doing (my favourite kind lol) . Though I've never run an amateur site I'd say that just like any other earnings are only a matter of how good you are at getting traffic to your site and how good your content is.

I have to disagree with people who think those kinds of programs are more reliable in terms of longevity, though. It's the indie programs with the real homemade content featuring real couples doing their own things that have been around since the beginning (or soon thereafter) and STUCK around.
