When the movie opened, the promotion poster had "Lolita" (played by 13 year old Sue Lyon) licking a lollipop. The title: "How did they ever make a movie of Lolita?"

Sue Lyon was born in 1946. Which means she was around 15 when she made Lolita.

Thanks for the correction. Saw 13 on a web-site once but can't be right as filming was began in 1961.

No biggie Colin.

She was 13 when Kubrick approached her about the role and in the book the character was 13. I would also hazard to guess that the studio fudged her age for publicity reasons.

Excellent flick BTW. Quite funny. I love James Mason.
