Pope Francis Graph of the Day | Cato @ Liberty

Cliff notes for lazy people: The best social welfare is a JOB made possible by a robust CAPITALIST/MARKET-ORIENTED economy. NOT socialism.

The pope should work his ass off for a living, contribute taxes...and then watch as his taxation money gets handed to a fucking 'refugee'.

And if all goes according to plan - the pope will be in proximity when the 'refugee' decides to blow himself up with some C4.

        Fuck the pope.

I'll grant you that but AG also had issues with a chap named PERON.

Socialism/Populism = long term poison for the economy.

Argentina could have an economy AS BIG AS THE US ECONOMY except for Peron and similar politicians who preceded him.

I'm starting to think the Pope must be the devil in sheep's clothing or something, considering all the negative remarks. He must have done at least one good thing in his life...

                        Tell this to the Swiss

For lazy people: Switzerland and Sweden are the most socialistic countries in the World. Argentina is a capitalism

Hint: GDP is an abstract figure. The US GDP is mostly about your expenses, not earning. E.g. all those huge military expenses are included (not subtracted) into the US GDP. I.e. as more your country spends, as bigger GDP it has. Don't forget that. That's why the Swiss have lesser GDP (actually the whole country is much less than States) but they have free medicine and free education, while you - don't. So bigger GDP doesn't mean a better live for the citizens.

That graph says nothing. Its just GDP pr. Person. Most of it is dept anyways. So find some better facts to base your argument on

Being Pope is a job. He is head of an extremely profitable business [religion] and runs a small country.

Despite this, he has still chosen poverty for himself.

I can't believe I just defended a religion and it's head guy. I guess there is a first for everything.

Poverty is clearly a relative term. Most people who live in poverty aren't surrounded by a multiperson staff who provide for his every need. Most people living in poverty don't live in a massive house. Most people living in poverty don't fly first class on private jets around the world to meet other world leaders.

He may choose not to "own" anything, but he is a long way from living in poverty.

That said, I do like how he seems to want to help the poor and urges people to do so.

He does not live in a massive house. He chose to live in a Vatican guesthouse apartment instead of the Apostolic Palace. The room is not a luxury suite, it consists of a sitting room with a desk, three chairs, a cabinet and large closet, a bedroom with dresser, night table and clothes stand, and a private bathroom with a shower.

This is a man who practices what he preaches and it is what separates him from the previous popes and other religious leaders.

While I appreciate his dedication to living a simple life (I just read an article about what his day to day life is and it includes living in his simple apartment, eating in the cafeteria etc.) he still is not really living in poverty.

I say this because he is never going to worry about whether or not he has enough food for the week or how he is going to pay his bills. He won't need for anything. If his car breaks down it gets fixed, he doesn't have to bum rides from friends while trying to save the money to get it fixed.

I don't know much about his life before the church so maybe he has experienced poverty in the past, but right now he is living a simple life, not a life of poverty.
